MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Parole has been denied for 1 of 5 men convicted of killing a Green Bay paper mill co-worker in 1992.
Rey Moore has maintained his innocence in the death of Tom Monfils, whose body was found in a pulp vat at the mill.
Brown County District Attorney John Zakowski tells WLUK-TV that because Moore has not taken responsibility or shown remorse, parole seemed unlikely.
With help from the Wisconsin Innocence Project, Moore moved for a new trial in 2009. His attorney said the jailhouse informant who testified against Moore at his 1995 trial, recanted his story. The judge questioned the credibility of the informant in denying the motion.
