10-year-old Cecil Ross was excited to learn more about penguins.
"Animals in general are interesting just to learn more about," Ross says.
Ross and his mom Bird joined an audience this morning for a film presentation called From Frozen Toes To Happy Feet: The Truth About Penguins.
Film maker and penguin expert Lloyd Spencer Davis showed the audience clips of movies such as Happy Feet and March Of The Penguins.
Although penguins are the hottest things on ice, he says the way they are portrayed is deceiving.
"Certainly they are entertaining films but there is no reason they can't be informative. If the information is misleading, then that's an issue talking planet earth," Davis says.
The presentation was part of a film festival called "Tales From Planet Earth."
The weekend event in Madison featured twenty two movies ranging from independent films to classics like Bambi.
Event organizer Greg Mitman say the movies are meant to inspire as well as entertain.
"Films throughout it's history have really shaped our relationships with the environment in important ways," Mitman says.
With films like An Inconvenient Truth, the issue of Global Warming has hit the main stream.
But Mitman says the goal isn't to scare audiences into caring, but rather motivating them to make a change.
"To tell stories that aren't just doom and gloom. But films that can inspire action is one of the goals of this event," Mitman says.
Festival did rub off on one viewer, Ross says after today's presentation, he says he wants to look up more penguin facts.
