MADISON (WKOW) -- Students in the classroom became chefs in the kitchen at Lincoln Elementary School Tuesday morning, in addition to learning about the local produce that comes from Wisconsin this time of year by creating a winter salad.
Farmer Kristen Kordet, a farmer and educator who runs Blue Moon Community Farm, spoke to several classes about how she stores vegetables in the winter, along with how her farm runs in the summer.
Kids chopped, grated, tore and mixed fresh ingredients for a colorful salad - and got to sample the food.
The program is made possible by REAP's Farm-to-School program and the USDA fresh fruits and vegetables program.
