MADISON (WKOW) -- A Madison based church mission group wants to go back to Haiti after just missing the earthquake by hours.
Journey Church mission group "Beautiful Child" got back Tuesday from Jacmel, about 25 miles from Port Au Prince.
They spent nearly two weeks working with children at Faith Orphanage and restoring the building.
The powerful 7.0 earthquake turned all their hard work into rubble.
"I wish I was there, I wish I could go back and help, I have a lot of friends out there," said mission member and Journey Church Pastor Steve Cecil.
Pictures, posted on Facebook by a mission member who stayed behind, are their only life line to the chaos.
"It's a shock to see, it we were just there," said Beautiful Child member Nick Matthias
"We bought them mattresses after the Tsunami to bring comfort to their lives and now those are all ruined," said mission member Christy Grace.
The orphanage can be rebuilt. It's the kids they worry about.
"Currently they are sleeping in a field that is across in a dirt road from the orphanage," Cecil said.
Grace provided first aid at the orphanage, she wishes she could be there now when they need her most.
"I left a little first aid kit down there and my sponsor kid Roly knows how to clean up kids now, so I imagine him going around fixing up the other orphans," she said.
All this group can do now is have faith, and hope that these kids, who have seen so much pain already, get the help they desperately need.
