WKOW 27: Madison, WI Breaking News, Weather and Sports"Funk Out Cancer" benefit honors Madison woman's memory

MADISON (WKOW) - A special fundraiser in Madison Friday is a husband's tribute to his late wife, who passed away at age 32 following a brave battle with colon cancer.
Al Falaschi proposed to Kate in July of 2006, and then, the couple received devastating news. "A week later she went in for a colonoscopy and they found a tumor in her colon, did some CT scans, found it in her lymph nodes and liver," says Al.
Kate had surgery and underwent chemo, and seemed to be winning the battle, but the cancer returned and this time, it was too much. Kate passed away in May.
Her husband says his wife found hope in research, so he is holding a concert/silent auction fundraiser Friday, November 20th at the Majestic in Madison at 8:00 pm. Tickets cost $20. All proceeds go to the UW Carbone Cancer Center.
