MADISON (WKOW) -- Kohl's Cares For Kids and the American Family Children's Hospital team up again for the "Celebrity Car Seat Challenge".
The competition is aimed at raising awareness of how important it is to have your child's car seat installed correctly.
Motor vehicle crashes are the #1 cause of death for children ages 2 to 14, and of those who die, nearly half are unrestrained.
Nan Peterson of Safe Kids Coalition says, during child seat safety check clinics, they found 96% of car seats in Dane County cars were installed incorrectly.
"The main thing we want to see is if the seat is installed snugly, so that it's not going anywhere in the event of a crash." Peterson said. "Second, to make sure the infant or child is in the seat snugly and harness straps are really doing their job."
Meteorologist Brian Olson gave it his best shot in the challenge, but his car seat was among the 96% that was not installed properly.
WISC's Marc Lovicott won the challenge, taking the title from WKOW's Kim Sveum.
Julie Lund of FOX 47 came in second.
Brian Olson and Rob Vogel of WMTV tied for third.
