CHIPPEWA FALLS (WKOW) -- Police believe a soldier found dead in the Chippewa County Forest froze to death, they announced Wednesday.

The body of 20-year-old Russell Plummer of Cornell was found Tuesday evening roughly 30 to 40 yards from his vehicle. He went missing over the weekend, after he did not show up for his National Guard duty.

The Ramsey County medical examiner is further investigating the case. Toxicology results are pending.
