MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Democratic U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin of Madison may have a Democratic challenger next year.

Dane County Supervisor Dave de Felice ( day full-LEE-chay) announced Monday that he is forming an exploratory committee to challenge Baldwin in the state's 2nd Congressional District.

He says he wants Democratic voters to have a choice next year.

Baldwin was first elected to Congress in 1998.

De Felice says he wants to bring attention to the issues of mental illness, the economy, health care reform, wasteful defense spending and the growing power of government and corporations.

The congressional district covers all of Dane and Green counties and parts of Jefferson, Rock, Sauk and Walworth counties.
