STOUGHTON (WKOW) -- Unemployed workers and their families in the Dane County area are invited to gather together Friday, April 17 for a town meeting, to hear from more than a dozen agencies who can help.
The Stoughton Chapter, WI Alliance for Retired Americans organized the event for families who live in Stoughton, McFarland, Oregon, Edgerton, Evansville, Brooklyn, Cambridge and other neighboring communities.
Volunteers from 19 organizations will make presentations on a variety of topics, including health care, job search resources and how to budget during tough times.
"Unemployment is a double whammy," says Buzz Davis of the ARA. "The unemployed person feels she or he has been kicked in the head and is injured. And the family immediately is headed for financial crisis. We retirees have kids and grandkids unemployed or under employed. Unemployment, and all the problems that come with it, can be deadly to individuals, marriages and families. So we organized our communities to help."
Unemployed workers, their partners and children first grade and older are invited to the event at River Bluff Middle School on N. Forrest St. The meeting starts at 5:00 PM with supper and will last until 9:15 PM.
Registration is limited to 350 people; you can call 608-873-2612 to register for this free meeting.
